Mark Radcliffe is currently presenting a show on Radio 2 alongside Stuart Maconie having for many years been a fixture at Radio 1 as one half of Mark and Lard.

He is passionate about music and has never played a dodgy track without arguing the toss with management, only backing down when threatened with the sack; he has three children to feed after all. He has himself played in bands for thirty years and had two chart albums with the Shirehorses, though, to be honest, they weren't very good. He currently plays with The Family Mahone who are, ironically, very good but have had no chart albums. That's showbiz for you.

Mark was once a presenter of Channel 4's The White Room, one of the best music programmes ever on British television, but he got the sack there too leaving the field open for Jools Holland who has capitalised in a big way. However Mark is not bitter and is, in fact, the nicest bloke you could ever meet. Watch Video ...

mike walsh mike walsh

Mike’s first experience of radio was making a nuisance of himself in the BBC Radio Merseyside record library as a little boy when he would accompany his mother to work. His mother still presents on that radio station but has fewer complaints about unruly children in office.

Mike worked in college radio in both the UK and US before landing a job in the promotions department of Parlophone Records where he worked with acts such as Radiohead, Coldplay and Blur from 1995 to 2000. He then moved into radio programming with Capital Radio Group, (now Global Radio), as Head of Music for their Century brand scoring record figures and a hit spin-off album series in “Hairbrush Divas”. Mike was soon given responsibility for his “dream brand” Xfm where he has been Head of Music for 5 years.

During his time at Xfm, Mike launched the Xfm New Music Award, brought Guy Garvey to the airwaves as a presenter at the launch of Xfm Manchester in 2006 and has been fortunate enough to stage events with the likes of Kings of Leon, Kasabian, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Noel Gallagher.

A Sony Radio Awards judge, Mike has also been nominated for Music Week's Radio Programmer of the Year and is on the Brits’ Critics Choice and Live Award panels.

Mike lives in Cheshire and spends too much time on trains.
