Amy Winehouse’s Journals, Photos and Lyrics Will Be Published in a New Book

‘Amy Winehouse: In Her Words’ will debut on the late singer’s birthday.

Amy Winehouse’s previously unread personal journals will be compiled in a new book, along with photographs and lyrics penned by the late singer.

Amy Winehouse: In Her Words will be published by HarperCollins on what would have been Winehouse’s 40th birthday, August 29. The 288-page book will curate “Amy’s own never-before-seen journals, handwritten lyrics, and family photographs together for the first time,” per the publisher’s description. “…this intimate tribute traces her creative evolution growing up in North London to global superstardom, providing a rare insight into the girl who grew up to become a legend.”

In Her Words was assembled with the help of Winehouse’s parents, Janis and Mitch, as well as the singer’s estate, the Amy Winehouse Foundation.

Winehouse died of alcohol poisoning in July 2011 at the age of 27. During her career, the five-time Grammy-winning singer became known for her deep vocals and the jazzy, rhythm and blues sound she brought to hits such as “Rehab,” “Valerie” and “Me & Mr. Jones.”

Amy Winehouse: In Her Words is out via HarperCollins on August 29.
